< back to EARLIER WORK In 1987, (after attending NYU’s graduate program in Film/Video,) Ms. Solondz began combining photographs with painting. Working first with people on the streets and then with people she met at Amos House, (a soup kitchen and shelter,) the artist had her first big one person exhibition at the RISD Museum, (Images from Amos House, Jan 1991) The later work, where the images became increasingly physical, (utilizing such materials as dirt, plaster and wax,) was awarded a regional NEA fellowship in painting from the New England Foundation for the Arts in 1992. |
