Grid Paintings 1996-1998

In 1996, with “The Chronology of Water,” Ms. Solondz returned to painting.  Using the idea of juxtaposition from the wall installations, she began using the grid as an organizing form for painted panels and painted film stills.  There is a growing interest at this time in Physics, (Ms. Solondz took a Physics class at Brown University,) that is incorporated into the work.  The artist was awarded an artist’s fellowship (in painting) from the state art’s council in 1996.
