Growing Salt
Salt has been a material that Ms. Solondz has experimented with for many years. Salt in supersaturated solution will grow onto various substrates, will wick and grow to form stalactites and will form crystals on structures and in glass cylinders.
Beginning in 2019, Ms Solondz started making solid salt structures, created in a mold. The intent was to exhibit them with salt solution dripping through them as they grew. This work was unexpectedly put on hold by COVID.
