Milkweed

The floating milkweed sculptures, which I think of as structureless structures, appear to be static objects, but on closer encounter they became fluid, changing with the movement of the air around them. In 2019, I made a piece called “Floating Between Two Worlds’” at the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA. The installation included an open translucent structure that was filled with milkweed sculptures, as well as tiny silicone hummingbird feeders. The work created a give and take between what is outside and what is inside, what is part of the natural world and what is part of the created art world.
